With the 2020 Tower we reexamined every assumption about the design of tall buildings. Starting with the plan diagram: the lower image is the basic strategy of almost every tall building built to date - a single, consolidated service core, with occupiable floor space around it, the minimum (energy losing) perimeter for the maximum floor area. In 2020, we maximized the ratio of(energy producing) perimeter to floor area, which provides energy generation, daylight, views and the possibility of natural ventilation to every part of the building. By redistributing the floor area in thin floor plates, the single core necessarily has to be divided in to multiple parts, which improves utility and safety.
