In 1992, Kiss + Cathcart was awarded a grant by the National Renewable Energy Laboratory to study the integration of photovoltaic panels into architectural design. As part of its report, KCA illustrated a range of building configurations and considered each in terms of solar performance, thermal efficiency, cost, and aesthetics.
