Rocking Horse cafe

One of the oldest and best-regarded establishments in Chelsea's restaurant district, the Rocking Horse Cafe has been renovated to double its seating area and create a large basement kitchen. The new and existing dining spaces are knit together by a series of brightly colored walls and wood and steel grids derived from contemporary Mexican architecture. The previously underused lower floor holds extensive kitchen faci lities, including a preparation room, walk-in coolers, and an open cooking area where visitors can watch the chef at work.
