Tribeca Loft
A two-story loft has been joined to the floor beneath to create a radically
reworked three-story living space for a family of five.
The original spaces were uninspiring 1980s construction with low ceilings,
inconvenient layouts, and undersized windows. This project actively addressed
these shortcomings, varying the ceiling planes and opening up the windows to
define open, well-arranged family spaces and comfortable bedrooms —
including a nursery added during construction.
Budget targets were maintained by keeping the design straightforward and
reusing existing resources such as the framing for open stair, which was
transformed with a new handrail. A huge west-facing window illuminates all
three floors, including a glass catwalk to the top-floor office.
